The Creation of the Risen Christ Redeemer:
The Risen Christ Redeemer and its grotto are a testament to faith and partnership in Rosario, Batangas. Between 1989 and 1999, a local businessman named Antonio Z. Luna started a special project to create a shrine. The municipal government of Rosario provided him with a 2,300-square-meter area at the base of Tombol Hill to make his vision a reality.
On this land, Mr. Luna built a grotto featuring the fourteen Stations of the Cross. These life-sized figures, crafted from cement, depict the solemn moments of the Holy Passion. Today, the grotto is a key religious attraction, drawing many visitors, particularly during the Lenten season.
A large statue of the Risen Christ stands above the grotto, at the very top of Tombol Hill, with its arms open in a welcoming gesture. This statue has since become a famous landmark of Rosario. Initially, the path to the top was a steep and challenging climb, with visitors having to use ropes tied to trees. To improve access for all ages, a staircase was built. This has made the spiritual journey to the top safe and easy for everyone.
